Conversations With Andrik

Andrik's speech development definitely lags behind his peers but the little guy is catching up as fast as he can. At two years old, Artem had a HUGE vocabulary, but couldn't put 2-3 word sentences together to save his life. Andrik doesn't have the vocabulary but regularly puts 3 word sentences together like, "More juice please." Lately it seemed he had plateaued with his language development, but that all changed this past week when he added socks, trash truck, choo choo, potty, and milk to his vocabulary in a matter of two days. Now he's adding one to two new words a day to his repertoire.

While Artem napped, I had some one-on-one time with Andrik and grabbed the video recorder to capture some of his new vocabulary. He has the sweetest "little" voice. :)

I love the look of sheer happiness on his face when you told him he did a good job saying fish! What a sweet little boy.

would you please tell us where his name came from? you may have done so before but i don't recall.

such a cute little voice! looks & sounds like my nephew Tyler did in the summer of 2005 when i was his 24/7 nanny. my big sister was getting her nursing degree (went to college for being a respiratory therapist, then changed her mind after a few years of watching kids die) and my brother-in-law was taking a course for a promotion in the fire department. Tyler was 14 months old... but the skin, eyes, and hair, even the facial characteristics, and the voice are so alike it's scary!

and i would loooooove to hear how your adjustment is going in terms of how you were feeling a few posts back (may have been on your other blog, i can't remember which it was on). i've been praying for you DAILY in hopes that God would give you the grace, strength, and peace you need to make this adoption work for all of you. you guys look so happy in the video, and i so hope it's how things are more often now, but i don't want to assume. :-)

praying for you!

I am close to tears! You are doing such an amazing job catching him up! I can't wait to get the word that we can go home to bring our boy home and teach him more words! I was so excited with "Dog" and "Get that!" :)
